    1. This is interesting. Especially since we've been recently asked to find examples of Epic improving our "community members" operating margin post go-lives...

  3. Here's another interesting article. I counted 3 items on this list that Epic is guilty of:

    1. Ten Unmistakable Signs of a Bad Place to Work

1-they won't let you see the employee handbook before you accept the job.
      2-No moonlighting allowed
      3-No references
      4-Progressive discipline (1st offense, 2nd offense, etc)
      5-Payroll deductions for unreasonable stuff
6-Dictated hours for salaried folks (e.g., 45 hours for regular folks, 50 for middle mgt) I'd argue that that also means steer clear from companies that specify that you must work from 8 am to 5 pm.
      7-Managers control internal transfers
8-Formal performance management (measuring a job with amorphous responsibilities using discrete metrics)
9-Rigid time off policies--my take on the article is that it says "Sick and Vacation time is bad, generic PTO is good."
10-Pay grades as public knowledge. I think this is more government stuff--the example they give is "He's an E5, you're and E3. He's not going to talk to you."
11-Slow interview process--not returning phone calls in a timely manner, for example.

Epic is at least guilty of three of them. My current employer is guilty of most. :( Still, I like this job better than I liked Epic.
